Women Drivers

Driving to the office this morning on the freeway, I looked over to my left and there was a woman in a brand new Cadillac, doing about seventy-miles-an-hour with her face up next to her rear-view mirror putting on her eyeliner. I looked away for a couple of seconds and when I looked back she was halfway over in my lane, still working on her makeup.

As a man, I don’t scare easily. But she scared me so much, I dropped my electric shaver, which knocked the donut out of my other hand. In all the confusion of trying to straighten out the car using my knees against the steering wheel, it knocked the cell phone away from my ear. The phone fell into the hot coffee between my legs, soaked my trousers and disconnected an important call. Darned women drivers.

The Bible has something to say about women drivers: In the book of Acts chapter 27: Verse 15, “We let her drive.” Verse 17, “And so were driven.” Verse 20, “All hope that we should be saved was then taken away.”

That’s a good illustration of how someone can take verses out of context to make it say what you want it to say!
