Untruth is carried on willing wings, but he who speaks the truth needs a bodyguard.
The Bible, God’s word is the only source of truth for all of mankind. When all else fails read the directions! I once saw a tee shirt that read, “I’ve given up my search for truth.” And another that read, “Question Truth.” In the movie, “Altered States,” the lead character was on a search for absolute truth. In the process of emptying himself he submerged himself in water for many days, mentally going far back in time. He finally came to the beginning of everything, and he found absolute truth. What was it? The absolute truth is, there is no absolute truth.
But I am here to declare to you that he was wrong! The Word of God is absolute truth! John 17:17, “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” Psalm 119:160, “The entirety of Your word is truth…” x
The Word of God is absolute truth, and well-meaning people still turn to mystics, palm readers and worldly counselors. Psalm 1:1,2 says, “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.”
There are more than one-hundred-thousand books in print on the religious subjects. There is much knowledge, much education, much information, much speculation, but not much truth. John 8:32, “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Free from having never known God’s absolute truth!
The Captain of a large Naval vessel saw a light ahead on a collision course with his ship. He signaled, “Alter your course ten degrees south.” The reply came back, “Alter your course ten degrees north.” The Captain then signaled again, “Alter your course ten degrees south, I am a Captain.” The reply, “Alter your course ten degrees north, I am a Seaman third-class.” The furious Captain signaled, “Alter your course ten degrees south, I am a Battleship.” The reply, “Alter your course ten degrees north, I am a lighthouse.”
The world changes God’s Word to fit their lifestyle. We are to alter our lifestyle to fit God's Word. We place ourselves in danger when we refuse to heed the Lighthouse of God's Word.
